Friday Feature : Inuit Doll Craft

Handmade doll by Inuit artist
Malaiya Ningeoseak
of Cape Dorset.

"The tiny community of Taloyoak high above the Arctic Circle in the boothia Penninsula has a population of less than 750. From this highly artistic community comes a strong group of women who take great pride in creating products based on ancient traditions."
These "Packing" animal dolls, each with a baby its hood, are hand crafted with wool and exude all the charm and whimsy of the myths and legends of arctic life.
